Tripmode is a PC and Mac app that helps you save mobile data when on the go. It stops online backups, updates, photos syncs, etc. from using data in background. This is a life saver for people that uses laptop or gadgets that consume a lot of data on the background.
With TripMode you can prevent apps from connecting to the internet when you are using a mobile hotspot. This prevents unexpected bills for high data usage on your mobile plan.
How does TripMode reduce my mobile data usage?
When TripMode is ON, it prevents all your apps from accessing the Internet but those that have been whitelisted by yourself. It typically stops automatic updates, online backups, Photos syncs, and various obscure apps from consuming precious data. Both uploads and downloads are blocked.
How does TripMode help me browse faster?
Your Mac doesn’t care whether you are using a sluggish hotspot, crippled hotel/coffee-shop/airport Wi-Fi, or a blazing fast network. Plenty of background apps will aggressively keep trying to download content and updates from the Internet, slowing down your Internet speed to a crawl. TripMode stops that by allowing you to grant your Internet bandwidth to only the apps that you need.

Can I use TripMode with any Wi-Fi or Ethernet network, 3G/4G dongle, or Mi-Fi device?
Yes. Just turn TripMode ON from the topbar. TripMode should activate itself each time your Mac connects to that network.
Why isn’t TripMode on the Mac App Store?
TripMode uses a macOS feature called “Network Kernel Extension” to be able to block apps from accessing the Internet. This is the Apple-endorsed way of managing network traffic on a Mac. However, Apple’s Mac App Store Guidelines currently don’t allow apps with Kernel Extensions. That’s why we are distributing it outside of the Mac App Store. Rest assured that your system and payments are safe with us. We notarize each TripMode for Mac release with Apple, which means that Apple guarantees that they are free from malware. We have thoroughly tested the app and are working with a state of the art payment solutions provider (Paddle).
Are you tracking what I do with the app or on the Internet?
Nope, nothing. We’re not even interested in anonymous TripMode usage analytics. Your privacy is more important to us.
