The West African Dwarf Goat

The West African Dwarf is a large and variable breed or group of breeds of domestic goat from Nigeria. It does extend approximately from Senegal to Zaire. They stunted but can be sweet. Usually this breed is found in the southern states in Nigeria.

Pygymy Goats

Pygmy goats are small goats of African origin. They were originally called the Cameroon Dwarf goat. The goat is mostly restricted to the West African countries. Similar forms of Pygmy goats also occur in all of northern Africa, in the southwestern African countries and also in east Africa.

Sahelian goat

The Sahelian goat is a breed of goat from West Africa, used mainly for meat and skin production. It is also known by some other names such as Cheèvre bariolée, Fulani, Gorane, Nioro, Niafounké, Sahélienne, Sahel, and West African Longlegged Goat (WALL-G).

Red Sokoto Goats

It is found in the central part of Niger, especially in the Maradi Department. The red goat is very prolific as it can give birth to 2 or 3 kids or even 4 in some cases. It is also called maradi goats and are reared majorly in northern Nigeria.

Alpine goat

The Alpine is a medium to large sized breed of domestic goat known for its very good milking ability. They have no set colours or markings. They have horns, a straight profile and erect ears. The Saanen, German: ‘Saanenziege’, French: ‘Chèvre de Gessenay’, is a Swiss breed of domestic goat. It takes its name from the Saanental in the Bernese Oberland, in the southern part of the Canton of Bern, in western Switzerland.

Anglo-Nubian

The Anglo-Nubian is a British breed of domestic goat. It originated in the nineteenth century from cross-breeding between native British goats and a mixed population of large lop-eared goats imported from India, the Middle East and North Africa. It is characterised by large, pendulous ears and a convex profile.
