Phyno biography:
Phyno born Chibuzor Nelson Azubuike is a Nigerian rapper, singer, songwriter and record producer. He is a native of Anambra State, Nigeria and was born on 9th of October, 1986. Phyno is one of the most influential indigenous rappers in the country and started his music career as a producer in 2003, and is well known and fancied for rapping in Igbo language.
However, Phyno as a kid aspired to be a pilot before embracing music. His love for music started as far back as when he was in secondary school, this was when he learnt to play musical instruments and also learnt to create his own rendition of every recording he heard.
Meanwhile, he started earning from music during his university days. None the less, His stage name “Phyno” was given to him by one of his high school friends, derived from the word phenomenal.
Phyno have been so exceptional in Nigerian music industry and made his debut studio album “No Guts No Glory”, released in the year 2014, which he further backed up with four singles: “Ghost Mode”, “Man of the Year”, “Parcel” and “O Set”. He has collaborated with artistes like; Olamide, Flavour, P-Square, Timaya, Stormrex, Omawumi, Runtown, Ruggedman, Bracket, J. Martins, Mr Raw, etc. Phyno currently base in Lagos State, Nigeria.

Phyno Biography; Education
Phyno though a native of Anambra State, grew up in Enugu and had all his basic Educations in Enugu. More still, all his musical leanings, practices and early performance were all done in Enugu including his higher Education of which he obtained his bachelor degree in Public Administration from Institute of Management and Technology (IMT) in Enugu State, Nigeria.

Phyno was born on the 9th of October 1986, which amounts to 34 years of age by October.
Phyno Family and personal life:
There is not much known about Phyno’s parents and family in general but significantly, his parents Mr and Mrs Azubuike are very good people of Anambra state of Nigeria. He is the fourth child out of five children.
Phyno only said one thing about his father which was that he never wanted him to go into music which he disclosed in an interview;
“I am happy for how far I have come. My father never wanted me to become an artist because he felt it was not a good profession. But I decided to stick to my guns and I have proved that one can also have a good life with music. Now, people call me to mentor their children and that couldn’t have happened years back. Nigerian music has gone global and the future looks even brighter”. He quoted.

Phyno Personal life:
As at the time of this compilation, phyno is yet to get married and revealed in an interview that he is still single and ready to mingle. Hence with regards to having a kid outside marriage like some artists use to do; Phyno has no such record for now.
Whereas, rumors emerged in the year 2014 alleging that Phyno impregnated a certain lady named Rita Edmond which he debunked immediately setting his records straight.
Phyno Professional career:
Phyno had his debut studio album “No Guts No Glory” at 26 in the year 2012, featuring guest artistes; P-Square, Timaya, Flavour N’abania, Mr. Raw, Stormrex, Omawumi, Olamide, Efa, MI, Ice Prince and Runtown, recorded in Igbo and Nigerian Pidgin.
He released the “Ghost Mode” in collaboration with Olamide as the album’s lead single on 25th September, 2012, which won Best Collabo at the 2012 “The Headies” Awards and also at the 2013 Nigeria Entertainment Awards. The music video released on 7th December, 2012, which was shot in Lagos, directed by Clarence Peters.
The album’s second single “Man of the Year (Obago)” was released on 23rd March, 2013, which won Best Rap Single at the 2012 “The Headies” Awards. The music video was also directed by Clarence Peters, shot in Abakpa Nike was released on 20th August, 2013, featuring a cameo appearance from Illbliss. However, in September, 2013, the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation banned the music video from broadcast.
Nevertheless, the album’s third single “Parcel” which was originally titled “Parcel (A BIG NWA)” was released on 11th October, 2013 and video shot by Clarence Peters and released on 19th February, 2014. “O Set” was released as the album’s fourth single on 4th March, 2014, produced by WizzyPro and featured vocals from P-Square, video directed by Jude Engees Okoye.
Phyno released the music video for “Alobam”, directed by Clarence Peters on 22nd May, 2014, Produced by Major Bangz, the song is Igbo slang for “My Guy”. “Authe (Authentic)” song featuring Flavour was released on 2nd September, 2014.
He released the “Major Bangz” produced by “Yayo” on 7th October 2014; the song debuted at number 8 on the Pulse Music Video charts. The music video directed by Clarence Peters, premiered on 5th January, 2015. Remarkably, Opeoluwani Akintayo of The Daily Times of Nigeria gave the video an overall rating of 8 out stars of 10, commending its use of props.
Furthermore, Phyno’s collaborative album with Olamide, titled “2 Kings”, was released on 1st April, 2015 and in June, 2013, Phyno performed for 25 minutes in Owerri as part of the Star Music Trek tour. He toured with D’banj, Burna Boy, Chidinma, Vector, Show Dem Camp, Kay Switch, Sean Tizzle and Seyi Shay, as supporting artists on the 2013 Hennessy Artistry Club Tour. Phyno later performed at the 2014 edition of the Star Music Trek tour in Nsukka, Enugu State.
Phyno started a Festival titled “Phynofest” in November, 2015, and picked the Chuba Ikpeazu stadium in Onitsha, Anambra State and recorded attendance of relatively 12,000 people. The following year, Phyno moved the venue of Phynofest to Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium Enugu in essence, taking his festival back to the city he started his music career and the attendance doubled to over 30,000 people featuring a star studded squad; P Square, Olamide, Burnaboy, Kcee, Mr Eazi, Lil Kesh, M.I, Zoro, Patoranking and Onyeka Owenu.
Progressively, Phyno brought Phynofest back and put up the biggest concert in Africa by an Artiste at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium Enugu in November 2017 with over 50,000 people in attendance. It was a huge success, featuring top artistes like; Timaya, Flavour, Runtown, Duncan Mighty, Zoro, D’banj, Yemi Alade, Ycee, Lil Kesh, and Mayorkun.
Phyno released his latest studio album “Deal with It”, which he later supported with two singles; “Agu” and “The Bag”. The album features guest appearances from Davido, Olamide, Don Jazzy, Falz, Zoro, Runtown and Teni.

Outside Music, Phyno has featured in a movie titled “Lionheart” in 2018, bearing the name Obiora with top Nollywood actress; Genevieve Nnaji the writer and also one of the lead actresses in the movie. The award winning movie also featured P Square, Pete Edochie etc.

- “Sputnet records”: This was where he started his career and made so many songs under this record label before opening his own record label “Penthauze”
- “Penthauze records”: penthauze record label officially started active work in 2008. Runtown was the first Artiste to be signed before Shugaboi, flipside were signed as well. In 2014, Stormrex was also signed to the record label.
