Update: Kylian Mbappe Has Given An Honest Update On His Future At The Club Details below
The 22-yea-old says that he is unsure on where the “best place” for him to ply his trade is. Mbappe’s contract in Paris expires next summer, with no talks of a new deal as of yet.
Granit counters: Five Xhaka successors Arsenal must consider
“I need to take the right decision, which is hard, and give myself the best opportunity to decide well,” said Mbappe.
“I am somewhere where I’m happy, I feel good. But is it the best place for me? I don’t yet have an answer.”
PSG chief executive Nasser Al-Khelaifi issued a statement earlier this month stating that the World Cup winner is going nowhere.
The France forward has been heavily linked with Real Madrid and Liverpool over the last year, but Al-Khelaifi warned he would never be sold.
“I will be clear: Kylian will be staying in Paris,” Al-Khelaifi told French outlet L’Equipe. “We are never going to sell him, and he will never leave for free.
“I never give details to the press about ongoing negotiations. All I can say is that it is coming along nicely.
“I hope that we will find a common ground. It is Paris, Kylian’s country and he has a mission: not just to be a football player, but to promote the French league, his country and the capital city.”
Amidst constant rumours on his future, Mbappe has Euro 2020 with France to prioritise this summer.
Didier Deschamps’ side are in Group F alongside Germany, Portugal and Hungary.
Despite a tough group, France are favourites to win the competition, with many tipping Mbappe to be the main man for Les Bleus.
However, the 22-year-old was reportedly left ‘furious’ after Olivier Giroud accused him of purposefully ignoring his runs in France’s warm-up win over Bulgaria.
The Chelsea striker took aim at Mbappe, who appeared to be deliberately trying not to find his teammate.
Giroud said: “Sometimes you make the runs and ball is not arriving. Perhaps we could have found each other better, there it is.”
It was a view echoed by former France international Johan Micoud, who criticised Mbappe for his attitude after the 3-0 win.
He said: “It’s becoming embarrassing. And even when he came off.”
It remains to be unseen if the wheels are falling off in the France camp, but Tuesday’s tricky encounter against the German’s will be a great test for this talented France squad.
