International Passport in a lay mans understanding is simply a booklet containing all the information concerning you and your nationality.
The information on International password will include:-
- Your name,
- Your place of birth,
- Your
- date of birth,
- The date of issue,
- The date of expiry,
- Your Passport number and lastly
- Your Photo and signature.
The international passport varies. It has about 4 types which include:- Ordinary Passport, Collective Passport, ePassport, Official passport and sometimes an Emergency passport.
Who Needs International Passport?
Nigerians who plans to travel outside Nigeria needs this. If your purpose of traveling is for business, leisure or other activities such as school purposes you will need a Nigerian international passport.

Documents needed to apply for an International Passport in Nigeria are:
To apply for your international passport You will need the following documents.
- Citizens by birth should provide their National ID card or a letter of identification.
- Citizens by naturalization/registration must provide their Certificate of Naturalization/Registration.
- A complete the special form design for the international passport.
- Two standard passport-sized photographs validated by the guarantor.
- A copy of the guarantor’s ePassport issued in Nigeria
- A guarantor’s form filled in and also signed by Oaths’ Commissioner.
- Married applications should provide their official status certificate.
- Age Declaration or Certificate of birth.
- Proof of payment.
The above are the required documents that you will need to provide. Now lets talk about the processes involved in applying for international passport.
How to Apply for an International Passport
- Visit the Nigerian Immigration Services portal.
- Select the passport type.
- Select processing country.
- Complete application form.
- Upload scanned copies of required documents.
- Select preferred payment method (payment can be made with Visa cards).
- Once payment is completed, click “Submit”.
- You will be issued an Application ID and Reference number.
- Print out Guarantor’s form and have it certified.
- Submit completed application form with additional required documents in person at your selected passport office.
