Fire Breaks Out In Sayville Home Claiming Life Of Family Pet. A fire that broke out inside of a Sayville home claimed the life of a family pet on Wednesday, said Suffolk County Fire Rescue Deputy Coordinator Paul Miller.
The Sayville Fire Department and Community Ambulance were alerted to a fire on Alfan Drive at about 10:35 a.m, said Miller, adding that fire crews found a fire in the kitchen when they arrived, and it was “quickly extinguished.”
No one was home at the time, but the pet did die in the fire, he said.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Town of Islip Fire Marshal and the Suffolk County Police Arson Squad, according to Miller.
