ACT chief minister Andrew Barr has previously put the lack of Covid in Canberra down to a “combination of good management and good luck”. The territory will enter lockdown after recording its first local coronavirus case in more than a year.
A snap lockdown in Canberra is reportedly being discussed after the ACT recorded its first COVID-19 case in more than a year. 7NEWS understands the ACT government is currently holding an emergency meeting to determine whether Canberra and the ACT should go into lockdown for seven days. The confirmed case was discovered on Thursday.

Report says Masks will again be mandated in the ACT and general retail will be closed. Hospitality venues will only be able to operate takeaway services, and residents can only leave their homes for essential reasons, including for healthcare, groceries, supplies, and up to one hour of outdoor exercise. Essential employees will also be allowed to leave their homes.
Reason for Canberra lockdown
Canberra lockdown comes out for the need to protect citizens. A 20-year-old man from Gungahlin has tested positve to COVID-19. The government has started contact tracing, but the source of the virus is unknown. The man spent time in the community while infectious and visited a large number of venues, including locations in Fyshwick, Braddon, Manuka, Mitchell, Cook, Kingston, Civic and Woden.
