In the realm of Nigerian politics, promises and realities often diverge dramatically, and nowhere is this more evident than in the legacy of the All Progressives Congress (APC) government.
When President Muhammadu Buhari was elected, he was marketed as a no-nonsense leader who would tackle corruption head-on and bring an end to the rising insecurity in Nigeria.
However, it’s clear that the APC government oversaw one of the most corrupt administrations in the country’s history, plunging Nigeria into debt and failing to secure the lives of its citizens.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) came to power in 2015 with a lot of promises. They promised to tackle corruption head on, put an end to the rising insecurity in Nigeria, and grow the economy. However, seven years later, it is clear that the APC has failed to live up to its promises.
Under President Muhammadu Buhari, Nigeria witnessed its most corrupt government in history. The country plunged into debt, and the insecurity situation worsened. Buhari was also criticized for his authoritarian tendencies and his failure to address the concerns of ordinary Nigerians.
In 2023, the APC again marketed Bola Tinubu as a democrat and economist that knows how to take tough decisions. However, in just four months, we have seen all kinds of rascalities and disregard for the law. The naira has continued to free fall, and the economy is in shambles.
One of the most disappointing things about the APC is their cluelessness. They seem to have no idea how to solve the problems facing Nigeria. For example, Tinubu’s chief of staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, has admitted that they “come to hear chatters on Twitter” to determine whether their new policies will work.
It is clear that the APC is not interested in governing for the good of the people, but only in enriching themselves and maintaining power. This is a betrayal of the trust that Nigerians placed in them.
The APC’s cluelessness is a danger to Nigeria’s future. If we continue to allow them to lead us, the country will only continue to decline. It is time for Nigerians to say enough is enough and demand better leadership.

What can Nigerians do?
There are a number of things that Nigerians can do to hold the APC accountable and demand better leadership:
- Force Tinubu to resign: Tinubu forged certificates which is against the constitution.
- Hold APC accountable for their failures. Speak out against their corruption, incompetence, and disregard for the law. Demand that they deliver on their promises and work to improve the lives of all Nigerians.
- Support civil society organizations that are working to promote good governance and transparency. These organizations are playing a vital role in holding the APC accountable and demanding better leadership.
It is important to remember that Nigerians deserve better. We deserve a government that is committed to serving the people, not enriching itself. We deserve a government that is competent and transparent. It is up to us to demand better leadership and make it happen by forcing Tinubu to resign with all the known allegations that have been confirmed to be true.
